We attended a South African potluck held in the Loma Linda civic centre hall this previous weekend. It was absolutely wonderful to see some South Africans and make some new friends. We met a few younger folk with whom we exchanged numbers etc. so we are excited about that:) This picture is of Sara eating lunch with Aunty Faith who taught Sara's mom when they were living at Malamula (spelling??) mission (if memory serves correctly - think that was in Zambia?). She is such a sweet, lovely lady with LOTS of stories to tell:)

Sara has family that live about two hours away from us in a town called Camarillo. We visit them as often as we can and Sara really enjoys the opportunity to spend some time with family:) We were with them a few weeks ago to celebrate her cousin, Janine's, 25th birthday. Here are some photos that were taken when we went out to dinner. The first pic is of Janine's younger sister - Carly and her boyfriend Jesse. The other pic is of the birthday girl with her guy - Daniel.

We visited Santa Barbara some time back. Sara loved this town - she reckons out of all the places we've seen here so far (which, granted - are not many!) Santa Barbara seems the most like Cape Town. The streets which are full of trees and shrubbery remind us of Stellenbosch and of course the mountains (more like hills!) remind us of the fairest Cape.

This picture was taken at the beginning of the year in La Quinta (in the Palm Springs area). Our friends, Jacques and Natasha (Natasha is also a pharmacist from SA) live on a beautiful golf course out there. We spent the day watching a celebrity golf tournament so you can imagine the excitement (especially from Sara!) when we saw stars like Matthew Macghoney (spelling?!), Samuel L. Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Michael Bolton, Mark Wahlberg etc. etc.!
