Heritage Singers Concert

We went to a Heritage Concert this afternoon. Apparently, Heritage has been doing concerts at Loma Linda University Church the weekend after Thanks-giving for about 15 years now. We just wish that mom had been here cause she would have loved it! She missed it by one week:(

Sara's rearing to go!

Heritage in concert.

The pic is pretty dark but we just took it to show you the Christmas lights at LLU Medical Centre. See the big star? The front of the hospital is decorated with lights too.

The "Sparrow" has landed.

Last weekend aunty Viv invited us to lunch in Camarillo because Sara's cousin, Clint, was going to be there. Clint is a pilot and he is going to be flying planes for the royal family of Dubai so he is in Long Beach for training. The last time Sara saw Clint she was just a little girl so it was wierd to introduce her husband to him! It was a good day spent with family - kind of like a mini-reunion especially since Clint showed us how to use "Skype" and we all chatted to aunty Lynda and gran (who is visiting her) in Australia and aunty Sue in New Zealand:)

Here is Clint with some of his younger girl cousins and his new cousin-in-law.

Just Clinton and the girls.

Giving Thanks

Even though we are not doing anything special for Thanks-giving and won't be around family (Clark has to work!), we just wanted to wish you all a happy thanks-giving. What we are most thankful for this year is each other:) We both could not imagine life without the other.

That doesn't mean that we are not thankful for all our family and friends. Mom, Dad, Sonia and Bruce - we love you! Pa, Ma, Kelvin & Tracy, Clive and Sidney - we love you! and to all our aunties, uncles and cousins - we are thankful and blessed to have you in our lives too! and to granny - we love and admire you:)

To Jesus - we give thanks for the many blessings you have showered us with!

Happy Thanks-giving everyone!

Angeles Oaks Cycle

Last Sunday, Jacques and Natasa came over for a cycle with Clark. They were supposed to do another bike race in Julian but backed out when they heard that the track was full of thorns and nobody wanted to take a chance with their tyres. So, instead they went cycling at Angeles Oaks which is half way to Big Bear. The route is a 28 mile single track mountain biker's delight!

Jacques, Natasa and Clark at the half-way point.

After 7 miles, Clark lost his balance around a tight corner and veered off into the thorn bushes! He came back with scratches all over his legs and Sara had to doctor him:) Jacques snapped this photo of Natasa "trying" to haul Clark out of his predicament...in the end the paparazzi had to lend a hand!

Natasa racing down part of the single track. Notice the steep cliff-side...not for the faint-hearted ie. Sara:)

The cyclers crossed three streams in all and really enjoyed their time in the mountains with the changing colours of autumn.

More "fixing-up"

Only 2 more weeks til mom gets here! So, since Clark is working next Sunday - today was the last day that we can get some things done around the house before mom arrives.

Sara making the finishing touches...sorry that the pic is so dark:(

A Taste of Home:)

Clark LOVES his mom's "melk tert" (milk tart) - a popular South African dessert. Sara also admits Ma's melt tert is the best she's ever tasted! It's no surprise then that Clark has been missing the "taste of home" and, no sooner had he got his mom's recipe than he got to work making melk terts - turning our kitchen into a melk tert factory! He's made 4 already!

Clark is VERY happy with his culinary accomplishments:) Although, he insists that it still doesn't taste like his mom's! Must be a mother's touch - that "secret" ingredient of love!

Sara's Bedroom Interior Decorating

Just a sample of what Sara has been up to with her decorating in our bedroom. She is trying to fill it all with stuff that is somehow significant for us. Still got a long way to go but she's having a lot of fun:) Sara made the candle arrangment on the left last week and the rest was done over the weekend. We still have to put up the pics she was working on yesterday.

Works in Progress!

We have had a busy day today fixing up our housie and doing some interior decorating projects. We will keep you updated with "before" and "after" pics:)! These are obviously the "before" pics!

Clark's shelving project...

Clark putting up the shelves on our stairway (will take "after" pics when they are all up and decorated!)

Sara painting frames for our bedroom...again - watch out for the finished product!

Rite Aid Halloween

The staff at Rite Aid dressed up for the occassion on the 31st of October! Lorenzo (in the middle) is the intern pharmacist from Canada (hence the obvious display of Canadian patriotism!). Michelle and Bonnie are pharmacy techs. Clark, as pharmacy manager, thought he should look responsible and respectable:) so resisted the inclination to slip into his Egyptian garb once more!

Our First Trick-or-Treat (little bit of a disaster!)

We don't enjoy the ghoulish, ghostly, scary part of Halloween but we made sure that we stocked up on the candy so that we would be ready to meet all the cute kiddies in our complex. Well...turned out Clark had to work that night (and he'd taken the camera to work to take pics of the pharmacy staff in their Halloween finery!) so Sara took this pic with her cell phone (that's why it's not so good!) and after all the anticipation, we had 4 knocks on our door! :( So, now we are sitting with a big bowl FULL of candy and desperately trying to keep temptation at bay!
